Favorite Snack Foods

Good morning!

Last day to enter my Jamberry Nails Giveaway is today! Check out my review and giveaway here!

I wanted to share some of my favorite snack foods we have discovered lately. :)

We are very concerned with GMO's, and look for products that have the Non-GMO Project Verified stamp on them, as well as organic eats.

We eat lots of organic fresh fruit and veggies for snacks, but sometimes you just want a snack that takes that salty or sweet craving away and isn't going to wreck havoc on your insides. Jim and I are also very into dairy-free (me especially) and gluten-free products. We do not eat 100% gluten-free, but we feel worlds better when there is less to no gluten in our diets. I try very hard to cut out dairy completely because it just does not work for me, and fortunately Jim does not like dairy very much, so it works out in both our favors. We have also been eating less meat throughout the week. When we do eat meat, it's organic, all natural, grass-fed...all that good stuff.

On my soapbox for a moment, I think it is absolutely disgusting that our country will not label GMO products.Other countries ban ingredients and products in their country because they are made with GMO. I can only hope our next president will change this and label GMO's. For now, we are very cautious and spend the extra money for organic and Non-GMO because our healthcare expenses will suffer less down the road. That is all. :)

On to the food!

First up, So Delicious Coconut Milk Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert, from the So Delicious company!

These little bars are so yummy! We have also had the ice cream and ice cream sandwiches. I love everything I have tried from this company. These goodies are organic, gluten-free, Non-GMO, dairy-free, and soy free. You must try these. I adore this company! :)

Next up is One Degree Organics Ancient Grain O's cereal. I love this for breakfast, lunch, or a quick snack.
Another delicious munch! Organic, Non-GMO, gluten-free, and vegan! Good stuff that you can feel good about eating.

Next up is some Annie's Homegrown goodness. We love absolutely everything from this company. All their bunnies products to their mac n' cheese! The snacks I have today are the Cocoa and Vanilla cookies, organic honey grahams, and the fruit snacks! Jim loves the cheddar bunnies, but I didn't take a picture of them. He's obsessed. OBSESSED.

All of these products are delicious. Non-GMO, organic, made with no synthetic ingredients or preservatives...just everything about Annie's (and the other brands I have mentioned) is amazing. I love using the Honey Grahams to make healthier s'mores (with the chocolate I am going to chat about below). I love Annie's. I hope you have some Annie's products in your home. They make you home happy and healthy....and fun! Bunny time!

Next up, Endangered Species Chocolate. Non-GMO and organic, these are a dark chocolate lover's dream.

I have been using these on healthier s'mores. Jim and I love them! This chocolate makes you feel good about eating chocolate, even though I feel good about eating all dark chocolate. :) This makes the experience 100 times more enjoyable. Thank you, ESC Chocolate, for focusing on what is important!

Lastly, we have Earth Balance Cheddar Puffs! I love all Earth Balance products that I have tried. We especially love their coconut spread on gluten-free toast and gluten free English muffins! Dairy-free heaven.

These are addictive. Jim can eat a bag in a sitting. You have to pour some out and then put the bag away because they will be GONE! This company is as amazing as the rest mentioned. All natural, Non-GMO goodness.

Thanks to all these wonderful companies who see what is important in health and make snacking fun, healthy, and enjoyable. :) I can feel good about snacking beyond fruits and veggies because these companies, and others, make it possible! Thank you Non-GMO Project for taking the initiative to stamp foods with your seal of approval. Means the world to us. Their App is great, too, for when you are in the grocery store and don't know what to get!

Have you tried any of these products or brands? What is your favorite snack food?

Have a great day, friends!

Hugs,

  1. Thanks for shining a spotlight on the yummy variety of non-GMO snack options available out there! Noshing on non-GMO treats is not only healthier for our bodies, it's also better for the environment. Here's a post we wrote addressing the Impact of GMOs on Wildlife, http://www.chocolatebar.com/involved/?p=1507.

We're so appreciative that you mentioned our chocolate in your post. Keep on snacking!

  2. I Love So Delicious as well. I haven't seen those ice cream bars yet. I will definitely have to check them out. My body doesn't processes dairy or gluten well but I'm also allergic to soy, so finding alternatives can be difficult.

As far as the GMO stuff, I agree that they should be labeled. Period. But I am not 100% yet on whether or not they are bad for you. If it's a natural selection type of altering the seed, then it's not a big deal. But the whole process should be transparent so we can learn and make our own choices. It's the secrecy that makes me uneasy.
